Tie-and-dye describes a number of resist dyeing techniques that have been practiced for hundreds of years across continents and cultures. Designs are created through folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric before binding it and dyeing it. In this hands-on workshop, Tulsa Artist Fellows Addoley Dzegede and Jennifer Hope Choi will demonstrate various techniques that participants can use to create their own design on natural fabrics. We will be dyeing in an indigo vat for near-instant results, creating a dazzling array of blue on white patterns.
Programming will adhere to Tulsa Artist Fellowship’s safety precautions including mandatory mask wearing and physical distancing when indoors. Program format and protocols could shift if community health concerns become elevated. Please do not attend in-person Tulsa Artist Fellowship events if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, if you have had close contact with anyone who is confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 and/or you are feeling unwell. Staff are deeply appreciative for everyone’s cooperation and will enforce these visitor guidelines to keep our artistic community healthy and safe.
